Dublin Racing Festival At Leopardstown Day One

Excitement is building for what should be a great weekend of racing at the south Dublin racecourse. Ahead of Day One, who are the likely winners on the big races? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on Twitter or our Facebook group.

13:45 Coral Dublin Chase

Yorkhill leads the betting currently and is odds on with almost every firm at 5/6. He struggled here over 3m at the Christmas meeting and the drop in trip may see him back to winning ways. Simply Ned and Min battled it out here over Christmas with the former the subsequent winner after Min was disqaulified for hampering Simply Ned on the run-in. They will both attract strong support in the markets but who is your winner?

14:20 Arkle Novice Chase

Footpad has done all that has been asked of him so far at the beginning of his chase career. He comes up against Any Second Now again after easily winning here on St Stephens Day. The more obvious threat seems to come from Petit Mouchoir who beat Footpad here in the Irish Champion Hurdle last year but now chasing, the tables look to have turned and not many will bet against Footpad to make it 3 from 3.

15:30 Irish Champion Hurdle

There'll be a great buzz once more around Faugheen with connections hoping he can bounce back after pulling up here in December. If all is not right, who is best placed to capitalise? Mick Jazz won the aforementioned race in December but is still as high as 14/1 to do the same. Melon will be hooded for the first time and certainly looks to need something to help him out as performances prior to this wouldn't fill you with confidence. Ruby Walsh has stated there's potential but it's unlocking it and getting it to flourish that remains to be seen. An each way bet may be the way to go in this one with Supasundae as high as 25/1 currently. He ran a cracker of a race here in December and finished half a length behind superstar mare Apple's Jade.
