League of Ireland ResultsThe season is but just one week old, and the first round of matches finished like this. Cork City made a good start with points at St Pats as expected, Dundalk failed to score with home advantage against Bray and the Dublin derby provided a 3-1 victory for Bohemians over Shamrock, and mention should be given to new boys Waterford in this new 10 team format, taking 3 points at home to Derry City

Irish League FixturesRound 2 of the season throws up a couple of interesting games taking place on Friday and Saturday 23/24th February, After a great start Waterford travel to Cork which will be a stern test, and an opportunity for Cork to continue a 100% start.
- Friday 23rd - Bray Wanderers v St Patricks Athletic
- Friday 23rd - Cork City v Waterford
- Friday 23rd - Sligo Rovers v Derry City
- Friday 23rd - Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk
- Saturday 24th - Limerick v Bohemians
Irish Premier League "Match of the Week"
This looks to be Shamrock at home to Dundalk - Neither side started the season quite how they might have hoped, Shamrock defeated in the derby whilst Dundalk have yet to score after being held 0-0 at home by Bray. Read our full Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk Betting Preview.
Bray Wanderers v St PatricksBray surprised some by holding Dundalk to a goalless draw in the opening fixture, whether they can build on that or not remains to be seen, but arguably hosting St Patricks is as good a chance as any to do so. Whilst St Patricks will be heavy favourites for the three points in this game, Bray have demonstrated good defensive abilities in holding out against Dundalk, who it has to be said spurned a few chances themselves - A price of 4 is a little on the big side for the home win given that bray have won around 38% of their home games when priced at this level.
St Pats scored a couple last week, but conceding three to Cork left them empty handed. It could be claimed it wasn't a bad performance against a strong Cork side, but odds of 2.00 are just to short
No alternative bets this week, just a simple good value home win for Bray at 4.00
Waterford had a dream start to Premier League life with three points, this is harder without a doubt and they will be lucky to take anything from the game. Some die-hard Waterford fans may be hoping for a draw at best and we have seen some predictions on site for the same, but it's difficult to imagine Cork not returning investment at 1.45. That price can be improved to 2.62 if you fancy Cork keeping a clean sheet and winning to Nil, or 2.15 for BTTS to score is an option
Cork City v Waterford
I quite like the look of the Cork win to Nil at 2.62
Sligo Rovers v Derry CityBoth sides tasted defeat in their respective first matches and thus are looking for the first points of the season. This fixture was one of the final ones for the two teams last season and Sligo ran out comfortable 3-0 winners. The layers are not decided which way this will go with Sligo at 3.00, and Under 2.50 goals at only 1.62 - it is safe to say they are expecting little action. A goalless game only pays 8.50 in the correct score market, and it's proving tricky to find the value bet.
I think keeping this one simple is the key and the home win at 3.00 for Sligo looks the direction to take
Shamrock Rovers v DundalkSee the full match preview and tips in the dedicated match preview
Limerick v BohemiansThe only game on Saturday and Limerick will be looking to contain Bohemians. Both victorious on opening day, there is little to potentially choose between the pair and the layers agree, pricing both up around 2.70 and the draw at a skinny 3.20. Both teams to score at 1.95 may be the way to play this, both teams offer decent enough striking options, and have yet to be truly tested defensively. This should be close, and we can back the draw at half time at odds of 2.00 as well.
Back Draw HT at 2.00 and BTTS at 1.95
