Waterford felt the force of Cork on Friday but little more could be expected, they did show well though so. Cork's win made them the only side to win both opening games. At the other end of the table, only Derry have yet to pick up a point Dundalk failed to score for a second game in a row, as did Shamrock, What's going on there?

Waterford v St Patricks Athletic

Waterford got off to a good start by winning their first game back in the top flight at home to Derry. They then faced the arduous task of playing the champions away at Turners Cross on Friday. They did well to compete and gave Cork a hard game but in the end, the clinical edge won out and they lost 2-0. Plenty of positives in defeat thoigh for The Blues.

St Pats have also faced the champions and lost at home to them, losing 3-2. They followed that good performance up with a win away to Bray on Friday. We feel this could be a tight one with Waterford having shown signs they can compete at this level and a score draw may be on the cards.

Sligo Rovers v Cork City

Sligo face Cork who are looking for a third consecutive win and in all honesty will probably get it. Sligo picked up three points at the weekend versus Derry City, who look in poor shape already and could struggle to maintain a Premier League spot. Cork are scoring freely, five in the two games so far, and can expect to score another brace at least here, and Sligo cannot be backed to outscore them.

Cork City AWAY win and Win to Nil

Shamrock Rovers v Bray Wanderers

Shamrock Rovers got a point at home to Dundalk on Friday night in a game where both sides lacked a creative edge. Miele was unlucky to see an effort come back off the post.

Bray started with a useful point away to Dundalk but lost at home to Pats on Friday, trailing 2-0 after 14 minutes. Rovers have Trevor Clarke back from suspension while Ronana Finn and Greg Bolger face late fitness tests. We expect a bright start from Rovers in this one as they go for their first win and we take them to be leading at half-time and go on to win the match.

Dundalk v Limerick

Dundalk haven't scored in their opening two games as the new signings from pre-season continue to look to gel for Stephen Kenny. Limerick will be disappointed to have conceded a late goal to Bohs on Saturday in a 1-1 draw but Bohs deserved something from that game.

Dundalk have an extra day to prepare and work on their attacking options. New signing Tagbajumi may get the nod up front as he came on for his debut as a substitue in the game against Rovers. Defensively they look sound, as they did last season and backing them to win to nil here looks a good option.
