Spain's Odds Are On The Drift - Who Will Win The World Cup?
With news coming through of the Spanish FA's decision to sack manager Julen Lopetegui, their odds have began to drift. Spain were 3rd favourites to win the tournamnet behind Brazil & Germany with their price as short as 11/2.
However, after the sensational breaking news they've now gone out to 7/1 with some firms with France now joint 3rd favourites as a result.
Naturally, their odds to win Group B have also become a little bit more backable, with 1/2 available in some places. Portugal have shortened somewhat from over 2/1 into 15/8. Are you still tempted to take a better price on Spain to top the group? Give us your opinions in the comments below!
Group B Winner
Favourites Brazil were available at 9/2 before the news broke and nearly every bookie has them priced at 4/1 now. Germany widely remain at 5/1 with Argentina shortening slightly into 9/1 and Portugal 22/1 from 25/1.
Does this strengthen other teams chances of winning the World Cup?
With the sacking coming just 2 days before Spain take on Portugal, this could have massive ramifications for the way the tournament plays out. Portugal were already viewing this as an opportunity to get the better of an ageing Spanish side. Should Portugal get the win on Friday evening, they are set up nicely to top the group and then potentially face Egypt in the last 16. Spain could end up facing a potentially dangerous Uruguay in the last 16!
Betway are offering 7/1 as I write this!
