Martin O'Neill ponders who Ireland will face in the playoffs to reach Russia 2018 World Cup

The play off draw is taking place on Tuesday 17th October at 1pm. The following teams are in the draw

Seeded play off teams

  • Switzerland
  • Italy
  • Croatia
  • Denmark

Unseeded play off teams

  • Northern Ireland
  • Greece
  • Republic of Ireland
  • Sweden
So we now know that the Republic of Ireland will face one of Switzerland, Denmark, Italy or Croatia. No doubt preference would be a draw against Either Switzerland or Denmark, possibly the latter favoured further from the pair, whilst, puling Italy or Croatia would be a far bigger task. That said no matter who is drawn, 180 minutes stands between staying home or going to Russia next year

And the boys in green will beat anyone when it matters right?
