Another good result yesterday as the NAP landed and today we look to a runner switching back to hurdles after a flat campaign.
ALTON BAY may not be the most obvious choice for the hurdle race at 6.00 at Clonmel but during 2015 he was racing in very good company on the flat with little success. In 2014 he ran up four wins on the trot, two in this code and twice on the flat, since then, stronger company has proven too much so. A return to the track earlier in the month here for a flat outing provided no joy so the switch back to this discipline is certainly worth a go. This is much more the level he previously found success with and whilst he may be deemed to have a little to find at the weights here, his best form would not leave him without a chance - Again at the price, one may select to play each way.

There is a Handicap Hurdle at 7.40 in which we can play another at a good price - DEPUTY CONSORT can not be claimed to be the most prolific of winners, indeed, we have to go back to 2013 and a chase to find his last victory. This is certainly the best level he could expect to be winning at the ripe old age of 13, but he is in off a low weight and did show signs of previous ability last time out at Down Royal. This trip is the upper end of his stamina range but he has enjoyed right handed undulating courses in the past and conditions should suit.
