Athlone are bottom of the first division and they do not do well away from home. They have lost three matches in a row but the two away games they conceded seven both times. Shelbourne drew with leaders Waterford 1-1 last weekend and they will look to get a much needed home win tonight.

Shelbourne have won the last four matches with Athlone Town and at home they have a good record against them in the recent meetings in the first division. Athlone concede alot of goals which is a worry and I can't see them winning tonight. Double Chance Shelbourne or the draw.

Recent records points to Shelbourne tonight with the home team winning four in a row at Tolka against Athlone. Athlone have let in 15 goals in the last three matches conceding seven twice which is a real worry. Shelbourne Draw No Bet is probably the safest of all the bets tonight I really think Shelbourne get the home win.

Cork City won all four meetings with Longford Town last year scoring 18 goals in total over those four matches. Longford have a few wins in a row coming into this but not against the better sides at their level which for sure will prove the difference. Cobh, Shels and Waterford have all beaten Longford recently and Cork can step up their push for the double with an away Cup win.

Bluebell United have had home draws against Sheriff and Cabinteely and this will most certainly be a step up against Shamrock Rovers. Rovers are up to third in the Premier Division now and have won the last six in all competitions including two wins against Cork City. Rovers won away at Shels in the last round and they should have too much for Bluebell.

Dundalk are second in the top flight, Drogheda are bottom and easily the poorest side in the league who concede too many goals. Dundalk won the last six against Drogheda and a home win should be a formality at Oriel.

Dundalk have beaten Drogheda on the last five occasions, six if you count a pre season friendly last season. Dundalk have won six matches in a row coming into this cup game and at home in front of their home fans with their recent record against struggling Drogheda this has to be down as a home banker.

Six wins in a row for Dundalk against a Drogheda side who have lost their last five against Dundalk. Drogheda are tailed off at the bottom of the league and I don't see a cup shock at Oriel Park, home win for Dundalk.

Gordon Elliott trained Penny Jane is one of my fancies today I have to say. Since May 5th it's been no worse than 3rd in any race for the horse and wins at Downpatrick and Listowel along the way. Second at Limerick and Tramore in the last two runs, I fancy Penny Jane to get back to winning ways today.

Second at Tramore last month for My Direction, the extra three furlongs today could really suit the chances of the Holden horse and a repeat performance like Tramore and My Direction looks good value.

Felix was third in his last run at Bellewstown and the Joseph O'Brien trained six year old can capitalise on the extra couple of furlongs at Kilbeggan to pull clear of an average looking field. Great chance today for Felix Mendelssohn.

Five months in a new yard and The Trigger looks the real deal. A winner in Killarney and Stratford, second at Kilbeggan on the 12th of August and today the drop to 2m and a nice weight can see Trigger triumph again.

Second at Tramore three weeks ago, same distance and weight today in Kilbeggan, Chateauneuf Du Pap can get the better of the other runners in this opener to claim a maiden victory for Anthony Mullins.

Second at the Curragh on the last run out for Kion, any sort of improvement today at Down Royal can see the O'Callaghan trained Kion get the win.

Decent chase form and looking near ready now after moving to the Nolan stable. Misdflight was sent out for a feeler last time out and I think there is a big run in him today. Each way.

Ran well at Sligo last time out and can improve at Wexford this afternoon. Mark Enright on board, the last two runs for West Light have me thinking with course and distance ok that it has a chance of a win or place.

Ran well in Wexford in May and produced encouraging displays at Tramore and Punchestown since. Davy Russell booked for this Wexford meeting, every chance Miss Sassie goes close.

Bohs have only won one of the last four against Galway and United did win at St.Pats in the Cup last weekend. Galway also won at Finn Harps in the league the away game prior and I can see them getting some sort of a result at Dalymount Park.
